Ever wonder what it would be like to play a game like Super Mario but as a Mexican jumping bean? No? Humor us.

One of the latest games for both Androids and the iPhone is called Bean’s Quest and it’s based on the legend of the Mexican jumping bean that states they move about because they are actually men who have been transformed into conscious beans an evil witch.

This 2D platform game, which is a nod to console games of the 80s and early 90s, is based on that legend.

Emilio has been cursed and his girlfriend kidnapped! Transformed by dark magic into a jumping bean, you must bounce your way to victory through 50 levels spread over 5 worlds. Can you rescue your one true love and find your missing pet axolotls?

At $1.99, the game is reportedly worth the money, as Touch Arcade has said it offers “a huge amount of replay value and an overall stellar presentation.”

With vibrant graphics and a less offensive concept than some games (see Snuggle Truck – formerly Smuggle Truck) it looks to be a very entertaining way to spend your non-work hours.

The game is from Melbourne-based Kumobius and is now available for both Android phones, and Apple here.
