Officials from the Republican National Convention have revealed some of the speakers at the upcoming convention that include several first time female governors.
Amongst the list is Mexican-American, New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez. Martinez made history becoming the first female Hispanic governor of New Mexico.
Martinez, 53, a former county prosecutor, makes no bones about her opposition to illegal immigration and to any measures that would make it easier for undocumented immigrants to gain citizenship or remain in the United States without punishment.
Like Florida Senator Maroc Rubio in Florida and other Hispanic Republican candidates, she ran on an anti-illegal immigration platform, promised to secure the border and opposes allowing the undocumented to get driver’s licenses in New Mexico.
Also included on the speakers list are: SC Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen John McCain, Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Florida Gov. Rick Scott.
“They are some of our party’s brightest stars, who have governed and led effectively and admirably in their respective roles,” Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said in prepared remarks. ”
