The Back of the Yards Quality-of-Life Plan, in partnership with Special Service Area (SSA) #13, announced that over 25 employers will offer hundreds of jobs to local residents searching for employment at the 2012 Back of the Yards Job Fair. The job fair is a specific objective of the Plan’s Economic Development Committee. The Back of the Yards Job Fair will be held on Thursday, August 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Chicago Indoor Sports (3900 S. Ashland Ave.).

The Back of the Yards Quality-of-Life Plan is a groundbreaking initiative that partners every major non-profit organization in the Back of the Yards community to pinpoint key neighborhood issues and address them with specific goals and objectives; the Plan is comprised of four committees: Education & Youth, Housing, Economic Development and Civic Engagement.

“The job fair is one of the most important objectives of the Quality-of-Life Plan; it will directly impact one of the most vital issues that not only affects the Back of the Yards community, but the entire nation: employment,” said Craig Chico, President & CEO of the Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council.

Businesses from Special Service Area #13 (Stockyards Industrial Park), as well as numerous Fortune 500 companies, will participate in the event. Positions are being offered to job-seekers in the fields of foodservice, customer service, manufacturing, and healthcare, to name a few.

The job fair is free and open to the public. Businesses may still register for the event until 5 p.m. Wednesday.
