A film revolving around Spanish Conquistador Hernan Cortes, titled Conquest, is in the works with Showtime Entertainment and Imagine TV and 20th Century Fox TV’s Fox21.

Ron Howard is set to direct the period drama and Brian Grazer will likely executive produce. Oscar-nominated writer Jose Rivera is on board to write the script. Due to his knowledge of Aztec and Mexican history, Mexican-born former Star Trek writer, Hans Beimler will be working as a consultant on Conquest.

The film will depict the Cortes’ clash with the final ruler of the Aztec Empire, Moctezuma II.

Conquest has been described as, “a classic war story about two powerful men and their people ultimately leading to the destruction of the Aztec culture and the men themselves.”
