The Chicago Police Department will conduct a Roadside Safety Check in the Chicago Lawn (08th) District at 6450 S. Western Ave.  The Roadside Safety Check will commence at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012 and end at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2012.

During roadside safety checks, police officers slow down traffic, stop cars at regular intervals and watch for drivers who show signs of alcohol impairment and other violations as noted below.

“This program is conducted year round to ensure drivers are operating their vehicles safely,” said Superintendent, Garry F. McCarthy.  “This month, roadside safety checks will assist in minimizing the number of unsafe drivers on the city’s streets.”

The Roadside Safety Check conducted in the Harrison (05th) District on July 13-14, 2012 resulted in the following:
