A Rent-A-Center employee in Brockton, Massachusetts was in disbelief when he arrived at work Tuesday morning to find a man with his head pinned between the bottom of a garage door and the ground.
Manuel Fernandes, 54, spent the night pinned underneath the door after police say he tried to slide underneath it after using a metal bed post to pry the door open about 7 or 8 inches. Fernandes became stuck when the door came back down just as he began “shimmying” himself underneath it.
When an employee arrived the next morning and found Fernandes, the trapped burglar tried to convince him he was a legitimate customer. The Rent-A-Center employee immediately called police and Fernandes was removed from under the door and taken to the hospital. He was treated for a bruise on his head.
Though being trapped in a door by your head in quite the embarrassing punishment itself, Brockton Police still charged Fernandes with breaking and entering and malicious damage to property.
