During the fifth inning of the Los Angeles Dodgers New York Mets game Andres Torres come to bat in a 2-2 game.  With a runner on base Torres doubled home Mike Nickeas before stealing his sixth base in five games.

The run would prove to the game winning.

The switch-hitting Torres has had an up and down season at the plate thus far. As a right handed batter, Torres is now hitting .298 with a .437 on-base percentage in 71 plate appearances; however as a left handed batter, Torres is hitting .163 with a .271 on-base percentage in 108 plate appearances.

Torres has gotten hot recently over his last five games, he is hitting .286 (4-for-14) with 3 RBI and a .444 on-base percentage.  This is the type of player the Mets thought they were getting when they traded for Torres during this past winter.  Thanks to Torres clutch-hitting the Mets now find themselves 3.5 games out of first place in the National League East.
