JUST IN: Immigration Reform Bill Moves Forward with Strong Bipartisan Support

11 million undocumented immigrants are one step closer to getting on a path to achieving legal status in this country. This evening the Senate Judiciary Committee with a 13-5 vote moved the comprehensive immigration reform bill forward.

The committee vote had 10 Democrats and 3 Republicans voting in favor of moving the legislation to the next step. The three ‘yes’ votes came from three Senators that were part of the “Gang of Eight” that authored the bill and proposed it. A total of 43 Republican amendments were added and adopted in order to obtain a successful vote.
