Today in 1971 Mexican pop star Paulina Rubio was born in Mexico City, Mexico as Paulina Susana Rubio-Dosamantes. Rubio is one of Latin American’s most popular performers with a wide reach as a singer, songwriter, actress, model and most recently as a mentor on La Voz Mexico and judge on The X-Factor.
Rubio started her career as part of the teen pop group Timbiriche. After 10 years as a teen pop sensation the ambitious Rubio struck out on her own debuting her first solo album La Chica Dorada in 1991 featuring the hit song Mio. To date the ‘Latin Madonna’ has sold more than 20 million albums.
Rubio’s self-titled album Paulina in 2000 has been her most successful to date, selling 3 million copies world-wide. The multi-talented star was not satisfied with her musical fame – she has starred in telenovelas, hosted her own musical show on TV and then expanded her brand into successful business ventures .
Rubio fans can enjoy her own line of MAC cosmetics or dine at her Miami restaurant to get more of the Rubio vibe. She is currently on her 2017 national tour that kicked off in April. Earlier this year, Rubio released three new singles, Si te vas, Mi nuevo vicio and Me quemas, to a great reception.
