The husband and wife team of Mauricio Ochmann and Aislinn Derbez through their production company, A Toda Madre, have acquired the film rights to the book ‘Toltec Art of Life and Death’ by Don Miguel Ruiz.
Bestselling author and spiritual teacher Ruiz often combines ancient “Toltec mythology and scientific perspectives” while applying “modern physics and practical common sense” in his writings. His millions of followers were first introduced to Toltec mythology with his international bestseller ‘The Four Agreements’, the book spent seven years on the New York Times Best Sellers list and sold nearly 10 million copies.
Now Ochamnn, the star of Telemundo’s hit telenovela El Chema, and his wife – the daughter of Eugenio Derbez- will produce an English-language film version of the book that delves into the author’s nine-week long coma and the spiritual journey he took while “suspended between this world and the next.”
Ruiz, who was born in rural Mexico to healers who followed the ancient Toltec traditions, has written several other successful books including ‘The Mastery of Love’ and ‘The Voice of Knowledge’.
