Telemundo is about to make a lot of devoted fansof the beloved Selena Quintanilla MAD.
The NBC owned network announced its programming for next season that includes a new mini-series focused on the murder of the beloved “Queen of Tejano” at that hands of Yolanda Saldivar. The 2017-18 mini-series “El Secreto de Selena” is based on the highly controversial 1997 book titled “Selena’s Secret: The Revealing Story Behind her Tragic Death”.
Maria Celeste Arrarias, host of Univision’s “Primer Impacto”, is the author who has steadfastly defended her tainted portrayal of Selena which stands in contrast to her fans perception of her. The book makes several salacious claims that include an extra-marital affair with a mysterious Mexican doctor.
The most controversial claim is that her killer knew of Selena’s secrets hence why she was never fired from running the singer’s boutique until her stealing couldn’t be ignored. Saldivar gunned down Selena on March 31, 1995 after being fired – the singer was just 23-years-old. The singer’s family has publicly bashed the book especially since it portrays Selena’s father and manager Abraham Quintanilla as a “money-hungry control freak”.
Many of her fans remain steadfastly loyal to her memory honoring her at an annual festival, a sold out line of cosmetics and most recently visiting her new star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.
