Esquire magazine devoted the cover of its November issue to renowned Spanish actress Penélope Cruz, whom the magazine selected as this year’s "Sexiest Woman Alive" an honor given in the past to Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson and Rihanna, amongst others.
The November issue includes an interview with the actress.
Chris Jones, who interviewed the Oscar winner, emphasizes Cruz’s beauty and also the fact that the 40-year-old mother ordered a juicy steak for herself during their interview lunch at her favorite restaurant in Madrid.
In 2009, Cruz won an Oscar for her role in the Woody Allen Film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" in which she starred alongside her husband, actor Javier Bardem, with whom she has two children, Leo and Luna. She has been nominated for an Oscar on two other occasions.
Among the highlights of the interview, presented in the magazine’s online edition, Cruz calls director Pedro Almodóvar, with whom she has worked with on five films, her greatest source of inspiration. It was also noted that the actress speaks four languages and "dreams in many more."
The Spanish star of "Volver", "Sahara" and "Broken Embraces" guards her private life and says that her family is the most important thing to her.
She will appear next in the Spanish-language film "Ma Ma" and "Grimsby" with Sacha Baron Cohen. Esquire reports that Cruz, at times, confuses the roles she plays in her real life and says that she does not consider herself the “sexiest woman” but rather calls herself “the mother who doesn’t get enough sleep.”
