Third time’s the charm, we hope, for Puerto Rican salsa sensation Marc Anthony who married his girlfriend, Venezuelan model Shannon de Lima, on Tuesday in the Dominican Republic, E! Hollywood reports.
The ceremony was held at a home Anthony owns in Casa de Campo resort in the eastern La Romana province, according to the same sources.
Access routes to the area have been closed off and heavily monitored since Monday, putting tents and tons of security in place to “make sure their wedding day is as private (and spectacular) as possible.”
Dominican bachata and pop singer Juan Luis Guerra and Colombian folk/pop singer Carlos Vives are scheduled to perform at the post-wedding party, according to sources from EFE news.
Anthony and Guerra are currently making their joint “Gigante2” tour through Latin America, which will conclude on December 4th in Costa Rica.
The former spouse of Jennifer Lopez tied the knot in the same province where on April 2 he inaugurated the Niños de Cristo orphanage, which was financed by the Maestro Cares Foundation he heads along with Colombian businessman and concert producer Henry Cardenas.
On that eventful day, Anthony was accompanied by his former girlfriend turned wife, who stars in his latest music video, which tells a fictional story of love that blooms into marriage.
Filmed last August in different spots around La Romana in the Dominican Republic, the video for “Flor Pálida” tells a romantic country tale of chivalry with the singer and de Lima portraying the two lovers. Anthony and pop diva Jennifer Lopez separated in 2011 after seven years of marriage, and their divorce was finalized earlier this year. They are the parents of twins Max and Emme.
The salsa singer’s first marriage lasted from 2000 to 2004 with former Miss Universe, Dayanara Torres, and produced two sons, Ryan and Cristian. Marc Anthony also has a daughter named Ariana from a past relationship with Debbie Rosado, a former New York City police officer.
