Today on 1978 actress Zoe Saldana was born in Passaic, New Jersey as Zoe Yaidra Saldana Nazario. The Latin beauty was raised in Queens, New York. Saldana and her family moved to Dominican Republic, her father’s homeland, when she was 10-years-old and the place where she found her passion for dance.
When Saldana returned to the U.S. as a teen she continued to pursue her passion for dance but had also caught the acting bug. She started her professional career onstage and did some TV work before being discovered by Hollywood. Her first breakout movie role was in 2000 in the forgettable movie Center Stage. The movie might not of caught on but Saldana did. The Latina actress has been a part of some of Hollywoods’ biggest blockbusters including Star Trek, Avatar and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Most recently Saldana is lending her voice to My Little Pony: The Movie and is in post-production for I Kill Giants.
