“The Patriarch” Captured in Guatemala, US Offered $500,000 Reward

Nicknamed “The Patriarch”, Lima Lorenzana is the charismatic symbol of the clan who is accused of bringing many drugs into the United States.

The family owns 15 companies, including construction, transportation lines, including the export of fruit and petrol stations in the East.

U.S. officials says that the family has control of drug trafficking in Zacapa, Chiquimula, Izabal, El Progreso, Jalapa, and has ties to the Sinaloa Cartel, Joaquin El Chapo Guzman, who is also a fugitive.

The U.S. justice offered U.S. $ 500,000 reward for information leading to the capture of Lorenzana.

Five others of the clan remain at large: the children of Lorenzana, Waldemar, Harold and Elio, plus Carlos Alvarado and Gonzalo Lopez.

The capture was accomplished after several police operations in the stronghold of the family, the village of La Reforma, Huit, Zacapa, where all economic activity revolves around the shops and businesses founded by them.Image

Lonrenzana’s conspiracy to international drug traffic, includes cooperation of the Northern sections of Mexico to complete the movement of the narcotics into the US.

The Interior Minister said that for several days the combined Special Forces and agents assigned to the case were to keeping Lorenzana, under tight surveillance. It wasn’t until Tuesday that his capture was achieved when he was intercepted on the road.

The US Government has linked the family to the Sinaloa Cartel.

When asked about what safety measures will be taken after the capture, the interior minister said Lorenzana Lima will be transferred to the prison of the state court, and will be guarded under tight security by combined forces.

Referring to Lima Lorenzana’s capture, local officials declare that: The arrest shows that the current authorities have no commitment to any criminal organization . “
