Narco Blog: Tunnel Discovered at Prison Housing Very Dangerous Criminals

A tunnel nearly two feet wide was dug into the National Centre for Social Rehabilitation (Ceres), in Mexico, a . Discovered Sunday night in the downtown area prison workshops authorities believe that the cooperation of the prison security must also have been involved.
According to official information, the tunnel was discovered Sunday night during a routine inspection by the authorities of the Undersecretary for Prevention and Rehabilitation, who immediately notified the Federal Police and Mexican army to cordon off and secure the area.
According to sources in the unit, several highly dangerous prisoners had devised this way of escape to be utilized in the next couple weeks. It appears that the prisoners had the support of the custodial and security personnel in the workshops of ceramic and carpentry. Authorities are certain that the hole through which the prisoners planned to escape could not be initiated without the knowledge of staff, since they first had to drill the cement floor and then dig out the land resulting in an extensive excavation.
Within the tunnel authorities found three cell phones, picks, shovels and sacks of earth.
