Wednesday proved to be one of the bloodiest days for the state of Nuevo Leon so far this year. Thirteen people were killed in various violent incidents, as well as a victim that is hovering between life and death from injuries suffered in an attack during the afternoon in the city of Monterrey.
One incident occurred shortly after 10:00 pm in Colonia La Esperanza in the municipality of Linares, where an armed group attacked four people as they drove on the road to Rio Verde.
It happens that the driver of the car was a Traffic Officer of the aforementioned county, who was traveling with his wife and two daughters. His youngest daughter was just a year old and the second daughter was a girl of 8 years. The father realized that an armed group was following, so he immediately called for help from his partner.
The armed group attacked the family in the car. When the officer came to give assistance to his partner it was too late, and was he was also attacked by the gunmen.
Within minutes, police elements came and realized the fatal scene, Mother, daughter, and father/officer died instantly, while the other officer was seriously injured and was transferred to a hospital in town to receive urgent medical attention.
In a true miracle- the baby was unharmed, she sat in a puddle of blood, left the sole survivor of the attack, as the wounded man died on arrival at hospital.
Officials said the agents executed responded to the names of Raymond Arevalo Mendez and Javier Álvarez Hernández.
The Mexican Army and Federal Police guarded the area and made several trips in search of the killers, no report so far arrested for the slaughter.
