Narco Blog: The Great Escape- 17 Prisoners Flee Prison in Tunnel

In a statement issued by the Attorney General of Justice of the State of Tamaulipas, it was reported that Tuesday morning in the Central Prison of Reynosa, as a shift change of guards took place, that 17 inmates had disappeared.

Authorities immediately began looking at 17. They found a tunnel in the laundry area that led to the outside of the prison, which was used by the prisoners for their escape.

The Police Federal and Mexican army tightened security at the prison and began operations to locate the 17 men who escaped.

The Federal Attorney Federal began the preliminary inquiry, which includes nine public servants; among them is the director of the Prison.
