Narco Blog: One Soldier, Three Gunman Killed in Shootout

On Salazar Street, between Dr. Gonzalez and Matamoros, in the heart of the city, a shootout occurred between the Mexican Army and a band of criminals in Michoacan. The Navy spotted three heavily armed vans traveling and they tried to have them pull over. The criminals refused and started shooting at the officers. The soldier that died has been identified as Jaime Jesús Bello German, 23 years old, who was originally from the city Uruapan but currently resides in the city of Zamora.


Three of the gunmen also died in the confrontation. Jorge Luis Quevedo Zuniga, 45 years old, from the state of Jalisco was shot in the head, and Felipe González Flores, 48, residing at number 38 Calle Lazaro Cardenas, also of this town, who was shot in the face. A third individual was killed but so far not been identified. Authorities say he is about 30 years, and died of a gunshot wound to his left cheek, three on the chest and one in the left thigh.
