Narco Blog: Mexican Navy Recovers Yacht Stolen in Florida

The Mexican navy tracked down a yacht that was reported stolen last month from a marina in Florida, authorities said.

The vessel was found docked on Isla Mujeres, near the Caribbean resort of Cancun, after the headquarters of the 5th Naval Region received an anonymous telephone tip, the navy department said.

The yacht Anna was reported stolen on Dec. 23 in Miami.

The tipster who contacted the navy said that while the boat on Isla Mujeres bore the name Baby J, it was actually the Anna.

A navy patrol located the Baby J and found two Russian nationals aboard. The sailors conducted a thorough inspection of the vessel and determined that “it was the same boat” as the one stolen in Florida, the navy department said in a statement.

Both the yacht and the Russians were turned over to civilian authorities in Cancun for further investigation, the statement said.
