“The Los Zetas Gulf Cartel are very weak from a Tactical, operational and financial perspective in Tamaulipas”, said the spokesman for the Department of the Navy, Rear Admiral Jose Luis Vergara Ibarra. He was reporting on the operations of the sailors in this entity in recent days, most notably, a clash in the town Michael German that killed 10 suspected criminals and 22 wounded.

At the headquarters of the Mexican Navy in the border city, the admiral noted that the weakening of criminal groups is reflected in the increased use of pickup trucks. The Cartels are supplying their members with less of the armored vehicles and their lack of training to use their weapons was obvious. The have increasingly less resources to spend.

Vergara said that from October 5 to date, the Navy captured a total of 36 suspects plus 11 more that were killed in clashes with the sailors. They seized four tons of marijuana, 65 guns, five pistols, 18 000 221 cartridges, two anti-tank grenades, four anti-personnel grenades, 35 rocket propelled grenades and an RPG RPG and 324 cartridges.

In addition they also have confiscated four trucks with armor shelling, known as Monster.

Among those arrested include Ricardo Salazar Small, alleged head of the Gulf Cartel in Germany and Gabriela Gomez Miguel Flores, this alleged criminal groups accountant.
