Narco Blog: Bust in Arizona Linked to El Chapo’s Sinaloa Cartel

Just over 10 tons of marijuana , guns and bulletproof vests were seized in a safe house by the authorities of the Sheriff of Pima County Tucson, Arizona.

Arizona officials also reported that they found evidence that the drugs belonged to the Sinaloa Cartel, commanded by Joaquin El Chapo Guzman.

According to the Sheriffs release officials, seized about 21 thousand pounds of marijuana (a little over 10 tons), worth an estimated $ 15 million and 16 kilograms of cocaine, several assault rifles and bulletproof vests inside the house located on the east side of town.

Officers responded to several reports of suspicious activity in the block 9100, Loma Linda East, near Catalina Highway and Tanque Verde, about 9:00pm.

Calls reported a possible theft or burglary.

The officers entered the house and found 21 thousand pounds of marijuana, 16 kilos of cocaine, assault rifles and several pieces of armor, no one was found inside the house so there were no arrests.

However, DEA agents said they found evidence that the drugs belonged to the Sinaloa Cartel.
