NARCO BLOG: 3 Ex-Police Now Zetas Break into Police Chief Home, Mayor Pleads for Help

During the hours of yesterday armed men broke into the home of the Municipal Police Chief in García, Nuevo León.

The Police Chief was able to seek help from his fellow officers notifying them of the intruders to his home.  Many soldiers came to the rescue of the Police Chief. Two men and a woman were found to be armed and inside the Police Chiefs home.

After a violent confrontation, the gunmen managed to flee the scene, and the officer saved the attack.

This morning, Mayor Jaime Rodriguez made a telephone call to a television morning news program. He publicly asked for help, the statement was very strong. The mayor said they needed both the state authorities and the Mexican Army to come help Garcia.


Rodríguez Calderónhas identified the people who broke into his home. They have been identified as two men and one woman, who are former policemen Garcia said that now belong to the criminal group of Los Zetas.

Around 12:10 pm, a shooting was reported at the limits of Monterrey and Garcia, precisely in the Colonia Las Lomas Gardens sector.

The situation is complicated, and left four people dead. It has been confirmed that it was an attempt on the life of Jaime Rodriguez, and is the second time that gunmen have tried to kill the mayor.

The mayor was not harmed in the attack. Rodriguez reported that on his way to Monterrey, that he was being chased by a van. The police interceded and the shooting began.

Rodriguez’s bodyguards reacted bravely to the attack. The four people killed in the shootout were all from the group of assassins.

As confirmed earlier statements after the attack, the Mayor said he feels fear, ” If I did not pee in my pants it was only because there was no water, I have much fear, but here we are, I’ll go ahead and protect the people of Garcia. “

Later in the afternoon it was observed that elements of the Army opened a manhole, which is on the side of the truck that was involved in the shootout. The police were looking for any gunmen who fled the scene earlier.

Fifteen minutes later they found two of the gunmen, who broke into the sewer, the first reports indicate that they are wounded.
