Narco Blog:10 Municipalities in Michoacan Close schools & on Lockdown as Cartel Threatens Violence

After the alleged threats of organized crime alerts expressed through at least 10 municipalities in Michoacan, in the town of Patzcuaro, schools decided to close all entry-level and higher education for safety reasons of hundreds of their students.

Several shops in the Michoacan Lakeside Zone, remain closed for fear of a wave of violence by criminal groups.

The secretary of education in Michoacán, Graciela Andrade Carmina Garcia Pelaez, confirmed that all schools located within the municipality of Patzcuaro, had to close its doors to students, at the request of municipal authorities.

Without giving an exact number of students affected following the closure of dozens of schools, state officials said that the opening of the schools is uncertain or until further notice.

Meanwhile, the deployment of troops and federal police, in the municipal and throughout the Autopista Siglo XXI, which connects the city of Morelia with the Port of Lazaro Cardenas has been done.

And in the last hours, at least 10 municipalities in the state of Michoacan are reportedly under threat of criminal groups who are threatening violence in public places like shops, according to the report that has received the Communications Center, Computation, Control and Command (C4) by the authorities of the different municipalities.

Within the municipalities allegedly threatened by drug trafficking groups, are Apatzingan, Uruapan, Pátzcuaro, Tzintzuntzan, Santa Clara del Cobre, Erongarícuaro Acuitzio the Exchange, Villa Madero, Quiroga, among others, according to information provided by the institutions.
