Blog del Narco: Police Detain Man Who Scorched Bodies for Los Zetas

A suspected member of Los Zetas was arrested yesterday by federal police.  He confessed to burning 50 bodies who were executed in Sabinas Hidalgo.

The detainee explained how the Los Zetas operated in the community.

The informant said that in addition to his involvement in the disappearance of the bodies, Fabela Eladio Rodriguez, nicknamed “Lalo La Papaya”, 39,  also participated in an ambush which killed a federal police officer on 22 July.

He said “Lalo La Papaya” was highlighted by some criminals captured in July, as one of those involved in the shooting which killed a federal police officer and wounded three on the free road to Laredo.

Yesterday “Lalo La Papaya” was arrested and confessed to police that he was responsible for burning about 50 bodies of executed people, among them women.

He said he did not know who the people were, and that sometimes he heard they were from a rival groups.

He carried the executed people to an abandoned ranch unpopulated area between the Carboneras Community.

Authorities have searched the location where he scorched the bodies. Only two drums and a few small pieces of bone were found.
