A federal judge ordered the arrest of former Tamaulipas Governor Tomas Yarrington Ruvalcaba, wanted by federal authorities for allegedly taking bribes from the Gulf Cartel.

The crime they attribute to Yarrington is classified as serious. This means that the minor punishment of probation is not available.

April 6,1999, was the last time the attorney had exercised criminal action against any former mayor on charges related to drug trafficking.

According to federal sources, the indictment of Yarrington is based on the testimony of protected witnesses “Angels”, “Oscar” and “Smurf” and in the statements of one of his former property managers, whose whereabouts and legal status are unknown.

According to police sources, Yarrington left the country in March, but his whereabouts are unknown. One source says he is in Texas with $450,000.
