Blog del Narco: Father and Son Attacked in Guerrero

A man died and his son, a minor, was injured after being attacked early yesterday morning as they left a rodeo in the Arena Pass community, municipality of Coyuca de Catalan.

According to official reports, father and son were attacked at about the 1 am, when they left the rodeo on their way home after attending the event in Paso de Arena.

The attackers, two men, armed with pistols, pursued and overtook the pair before they entered their home.  During the attack, Mr. Carreño Jesus Ortiz, 43 years old, was fatally shot and his son Jesus Diaz Carreño, 17, was injured.

Both were taken to a private clinic in Ciudad Altamirano, but Jesus Carreno Ortiz died while receiving first aid. He had at least four bullets in the chest. His son, Jesus Diaz Carreño, was wounded by a bullet in the left shoulder, and it was reported that his condition was stable.

Those responsible escaped.
