Blog del Narco: 2 Ex-Police Killed in Nuevo Leon

Two former police officers were executed yesterday after a group of armed men attacked the truck they were driving.

Neighbors said that after the attack, a third man who was shot in the abdomen managed to escape his attackers.

A source close to the investigation reported that one of the deceased was identified unofficially by his relatives as José Cruz Duque Guevara, 25, who was in the driver’s seat of a Ford Expedition, which has not reported as stolen.

Meanwhile, the other deceased was identified as Jorge de Jesús Guzmán Ruiz, 25, who was lying on the sidewalk, about 15 meters from the vehicle after he tried to escape his executioners.

The source said that both victims had worked in the municipal Police and apparently were dismissed for not passing the tests of confidence.

Witnesses said that after the attack, another man got out of the truck wounded and ran.

State police collected dozens of caps 9mm and .223 bullets used by AR-15 rifles.
