Blog del Narco: 18 Mexican Posing as Journalist Caught at Border

Mexican authorities in Nicaragua arrested at least 18 people after they tried to enter the country from neighboring Honduras; they were posing as journalists from Mexican broadcaster Televisa.

The proposed journalists presented false credentials while wearing vests with the logo of the television station, Nicaraguan media is reporting.

However, during the interview to enter Nicaragua, the police found that the identifications were false, so they proceeded to conduct a personal review. Upon looking into their luggage, a dollar amount was found that the nation’s laws do not allow transport.

In addition, it was reported that among those arrested was Manuel de Jesus Herrera Pineda, who is suspected of being part of society Central America, Import and Export, SA (ACAN), which would be owned by Mexican David Pattern Arce. Authorities have identified Arce as one of the ringleaders of the group “Los Charros” cites La Prensa of Nicaragua.

It is reported that another member of the group is Julio Cesar Osuna, exmagistrado Supreme Electoral Council. The former official, along with 23 others, is accused of organized crime activities such as money laundering
