NARCO BLOG: Mexican Government Says ‘La Familia’ Cartel “Weaker Every Day”

The federal government said the drug cartel ‘La Familia Michoacana’  “is becoming weaker,” noting that the Federal Armed Forces deployed to Michoacán have surrounded the members of this organization.

In a joint statement, the National Security Cabinet said that soldiers, Marines and Federal police “Will only retreat when the crimes against Michoacán citizens have been reduced significantly.

The Ministry of Interior, the National Defense, the Navy, the department of Public Safety and the Attorney General’s Office stated that “the only remaining option for these criminals is to turn themselves in to the authorities, knowing that the federal government will fully respect their rights in the criminal proceedings to which they will be subjected.”
