Mexican American comedian Cristela Alonzo is very busy juggling a Netflix special and an ABC project all while making sure people know what she thinks of Donald Trump.
ABC has invited Alonzo back to the network where she made history in 2014 as the first Mexican-American to create, executive produce and star in a prime time television show. The Cristela show was semi-autobiographical and well received by audiences but not enough to be renewed for a second season. Now Alonzo is joining the cast of The Gospel of Kevin, an hour long ‘dramedy’ playing the role of Yvette a “warrior of God” alongside Jason Ritter.
The Texan-born comedian is also promoting her Netflix comedy special Lower Classy where she takes on Latino stereotypes and of course the man Mexican’s love to hate – Trump. As a daughter of an immigrant who grew up in a border town she is offended by Trump’s negative portrayal of Mexicans.
Alonzo’s message to Trump: Your border wall won’t work – Mexicans use tunnels!
