Latina magazine, the largest magazine edited by and for Latin women, has come up with a comprehensive list of 25 books every Latina should read. Here at HS-News we LOVE books so we picked the top ten to share with you:

- The House of Spirits by Isabel Allende (her debut novel, a classic)
- One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez (explains why we are who we are)
- In the Times of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez (true stories of the incredible Mirabel sisters killed in the Dominican Republic)
- When I Was Puerto Rican by Esmeralda Santiago (coming of age in Puerto Rico)
- Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes (published in 1615, still required college reading
- Kiss of the Spider Woman by Manuel Puig (a dialogue of unlikely frienships)
- Death in the Andes by Mario Vargas Llosa (examination of Peru’s political problems)
