Narco Blog: Thugs Disarm 21 Police Officers in Michoacan Mexico

Authorities in Michoacán have confirmed that criminals disarmed 21 Officers of the States Police command. The uniformed policemen were going to watch a rodeo in the community of San Miguel del Monte, located south of Morelia when hooded men armed with AK-47 have surprised them. The gunmen questioned the officers individually and proceeded to disarm them one by one. Assaults & Threats Against Migrant Defenders in Mexico on the Rise

According to the report by the Mexican Episcopal Conference (MEC), in recent years aggressions, threats and harassment against defenders of migrants in Mexico have increased. Since 2004, 62 accidents have been recorded. In the "Report on the situation of the defenders of migrants in Mexico", states that from 2004 to 2009 only 18 incidents were recorded, while in 2010 alone 29 and another 15 were recorded between January and June 2011. continue reading »

Narco Blog:Seven Members of Knights Templar Captured By Police

The Ministry of Public Security issued an official statement, that elements of the Federal Police conducted a raid in the town of Apatzingan, Michoacan, where they managed to capture seven members of the Knights Templar. Among those captured were Faustino Pacheco Torres, better known as El Pariente, 36, who is identified as head of the Knights Templar assassins. El Pariente, admitted a role in the encounter recorded in December 2010, where killed Moreno González, alias El Chayo, was killed who in life was the leader of La Familia Michoacana.
